Faction Rules

Your Duelist does not have to travel alone in these lands! Creating or joining a faction is a great way to form a bond and synergize between Duelists! If you've earned your keep of RICE, you can start your very own small faction and grow as your group wins more duels! Being in a faction is also a great way to expand your knowledge as an animator or artist and to work as a team. Participate in "Faction Wars" a faction-only fight system where two factions will undergo a mass Duel! So GET OUT THERE AND FACTION!

MAIN FACTION RULES:

  • In order to create a faction and become a faction leader, you must be ranked Silver or above, meaning you need at least 15 RICE.
  • Your Duelist must be in the Official Duelist Roster.
  • Anyone below Silver cannot create a faction or become a faction leader, but they CAN be recruited into factions.
  • Duelists may only be in ONE faction at a time.
  • There may only be ONE faction leader per faction.
  • You must decide what type of faction you desire. Scroll down to Types of Factions for more info.
  • Faction threads must include:
    • Faction name.
    • Faction banner image.
    • Faction icon/symbol.
    • Faction location.
    • Faction thread should be placed in the correct area.
    • A list of all members linking back to their official profile.
  • Unlike the Duelist applications, Faction threads do not need to follow a specific format. The faction leader can design the thread however he/she sees fit as long as it includes the requirements above.
  • SWF embeds are allowed in this section as long as it doesn't include any loud music & sounds. (see spoiler below)
Use this code to embed swf files.
Tip: most sites protect direct swf links from being used on other websites, so the easiest / most reliable way to get a direct swf link is to upload your swf file to your public dropbox folder and get the public link from there. If you don't know about dropbox or direct swf links, best to just not use the embed swf feature and stick with GIFs.
Code:
[flash=width,height]direct_swf_link.swf[/flash]

Types of Factions:

  • There are two types of factions: Animated Factions and Comic Factions.
    • Animated Factions will be represented with the tag [A] in front of the faction's thread title. Only Animated Duelists are allowed to join and partake in Animated Factions.
    • Comic Factions will be represented with the tag [C] in front of the faction's thread title. Both Animated and Comic Duelists are allowed to join and partake in Comic Factions.
  • When creating your faction thread please place the appropriate tag for you desired faction type at the start of the thread title. If not done then in due time a moderator will do it for you. You are not allowed to not have a tag in front of your faction name.
  • There is no both [A | C] factions, only the separated [A] and [C] factions.

Faction Size Requirements:

  • Factions will start off small with 3 members but they will be able to grow based on the accumulated amount of RICE a faction has within its members:
    • 3 members = 25 RICE
    • 4 members = 40 RICE
    • 5 members = 60 RICE
    • 6 members = 80 RICE
    • 7 members = 100 RICE
    • 8 members = 120 RICE
    • 9 members = 150 RICE
    • 10 members = 180 RICE
  • Depending on what type of faction you have what type of RICE you will require to unlock more member slots for your faction. White RICE is needed for an Animated Faction and Brown RICE is needed for a Comic Faction.
  • Once a faction unlocks the ability to have more members through accumulated RICE, the amount of members will be permanently unlocked.

Faction Wars

A Faction War can be organized when two factions agree to face each other in a mass Dojo Duel for extra RICE, EAR collecting (more on this below), or simply for supremacy!

Requirements to start a Faction War:

  • Both factions must unanimously agree to duel before a faction war is to be held.
  • Both factions will need to agree upon what type of faction war will be held. An Animated Faction War or a Comic Faction War (scroll down to their respective sections for more info)
  • Animated Factions can partake in both Animated and Comic Faction Wars. Comic Factions however can only partake in Comic Faction Wars.
  • Animated and Comic factions can only do a faction war against each other if they agree to make it a Comic Faction War.
  • The amount of members in smallest competing faction will dictate the amount of Duelists that will participate in the Faction War.
    • For example: If a 3 member faction is going against a 6 member faction, there will be 3 Duelists from each faction participating in the faction war.
  • Each faction will choose the required amount of members to fight in the Faction War and from that roster, both factions must choose and agree upon which Duelists will be faced against each other.
  • Once the Faction War is decided, ONE of the leaders will make the Faction War topic. Depending on what kind of Faction War has been decided upon where it will be created.
    • Animated Faction War topics will be created in the Dueling Grounds Section. Remember all Dueling Ground Rules still apply to Animated Faction Wars.
    • Comic Faction War topics will be created in the Comic Duels Section. Remember all Comic Duel Rules still apply to Comic Faction Wars.
  • Once the due date is reached, ALL animations must be linked on the first post and the forum tag should be set to “Finished”.

Animated Faction Wars:

  • If it has been decided upon by both factions that they will do an Animated Faction War then both factions will have to agree to what type of animation duel they will be doing:
    • Separated animations - Each animator makes his/her own animation to form multiple separate animations entries.
    • Collaboration style - Each animator makes his/her own part separately but each part is connected and compiled into one animation. Animators can also work together and combine their parts / skills together into the same scenes to do a joint styled animation.

Comic Faction Wars:

  • If it has been decided upon by both factions that they will do a Comic Faction War then both factions will have to agree to what type of comic duel they will be doing:
    • Separated comics - Each comic artist makes his/her own comic to form multiple separate comics entries.
    • Collaboration style - Each comic artist makes his/her own page separately but each page is connected and compiled into one long Interactive Comic entry. Comic artists can also work together and combine their skills together into the same panels and scenes to do a joint styled comic. Both Factions will not be working together to create one Interactive Comic entry but rather both will present their own entries that their members collaborated together to create.

Faction War Judging:

  • Voting for Faction Wars will be done by a voting poll where you choose which faction you believe did the best.
  • Like standard Voting Rules, the Dojo Staff will also vote on which overall side wins and will add 20% of the total amount of votes to the score.
  • Like standard Animated Dojo Duels, results for a Faction War will also be announced in the Official Duel Results Section. Unless however it was a Comic Faction War, where it will just be left in the Comic Dueling section.
  • Extra bonus RICE will be given out to every faction member who has completed the Faction War. White RICE will be given out to completed Animated Faction Wars and Brown RICE will be given out in completed Comic Faction Wars.

EARS System

Image

Aside from earning RICE, factions will be able to obtain EARS from their defeated opponents. EARS have no value besides bragging rights and a form of trophy for Factions. The more EARS a Faction has, the more status and power it will withhold.

EARS Rules:

  • If a faction wins a Faction War, the winning faction gets to pick one member from the opposing faction and claim their EAR.
  • If a faction loses a Faction War, they will not be able to obtain EARS in that Faction War.
  • EARS will be rewarded by the moderators once they've agreed upon whose EAR they want, and the faction can display it on their faction thread.
  • EARS can only be given out by the moderators. If a Faction is caught making their own EARS or fake EARS, the Faction will be stripped of all EARS and possibly face a ban from the Factions Section.

Note: This is just a sample faction to give you ideas on how to put together a faction page. Remember you can be as creative as you want and your page can be set up completely different as long as it follows all the Faction Rules
